About Us
The name TAJDO is a combination of the names Tajana and Dollar (or Dog). That's us, Dollar and Tajana, an unbeatable team from Switzerland to Zanzibar, from the mountains to the Indian Ocean.
Tajana Bieri
My name is Tajana, I'm 24 years old, and I was born and raised in Switzerland. Since 2024, I've been living with my dog, Dollar, in Zanzibar, Tanzania. I dedicate my entire life to the street dogs there.
I grew up in a very loving family with an older sister and a younger brother. My father is deaf and my mother is hard of hearing, which meant I grew up partly in the world of the hearing impaired and using sign language. This has probably contributed greatly to my open-mindedness.
My love and connection to animals, especially dogs, has been with me since childhood. The older I got, the stronger my desire for my own dog became. My dog, Dollar, found his way to me from an animal shelter in Italy. For seven years now, we have been each other's companions through life.
Nevertheless, I completed my training as a specialist in care for people with disabilities and remained in this field. The strong need for responsibility and the promotion of community spirit, generosity, and a positive outlook on life continued to drive me. It was my first time in Zanzibar, Tanzania, and I felt at home. As a young woman, I felt safe in a country that wasn't mine, and I experienced the feeling of being truly welcome.
TAJDO was born out of love for our four-legged friends, out of the joy of taking on responsibility, and out of the desire to make a meaningful difference.

Dollar
I'm Dollar, about 14 years old in dog years, which is roughly equivalent to 98 in human years. I originally lived on the streets of Italy. Then I was taken in by an animal shelter, where I lived for five years with many other street dogs. Since my mom, Tajana, took me in from there, she never knew exactly how old I really was. For the past seven years, I've lived lovingly and adventurously with my mom. We've traveled to many European countries together, all by car, of course. Now I get to spend my last years as a dog as an 'old man' on the beach in Zanzibar, and I was also a significant part of the inspiration for TAJDO.
